a new programme on the move

                                      

Shortliy after the offical launching ceremony of the proramme, which took place at the host institution, the programme management office started its fact finding missions. Between April 2004 and September 17, 2004 the PMO TEAM visited 23 niversities/research institutions around China(see map on back page). Most of these institutions were already existing European Studies Centres. One of the main tasks of the PMO is to support the already existing ESCs all over China. Further tasks include the establishment of two new Centres for European Studies on China.

The Fact Finding Mission to the existing ESCs aimed at getting an inside view in their strengths and weaknesses. The auditing reports are based on 1 or 2 days of meeting with the respective leadership of the universities, the directors of the ESCs, full time and part time researchers and last but not least students who are taking European related courses. In order to get a comparabale result of the performance of the ESCs. PMO dilevered in advance a catalogue of assessment criteria. The ESCs submitted reports on their activities which helped the PMO to prepare for the Fact Finding Missions.
